Consultation Process

Creating your custom jewellery at Geoff Taylor Goldsmith

Getting Started

Consultations are informative and our aim is that they are a stress free and fun experience for you.

It will give you an idea of some of the possibilities when designing a new piece of jewellery or re-modelling your old jewellery.

Here are the steps we follow when creating a special custom piece of jewellery with you.

Step 1. Introduction

You can begin the process with a phone call for a chat or an email. Then if you wish, you can make an appointment, this is essential before visiting the workshop.

You may have a design in mind but if not we can help you with that and give you an idea of the costs involved. Having a set budget helps us all stay on track.

Step 2. Discussion & Direction

The next step is for us to weigh and check any old gold you may have for crediting and remove any stones that you may supply in old mounts. These are then cleaned, weighed and measured.

We can supply diamonds and all types gemstones to suit your requirements and budget. Our diamonds are sourced from trusted suppliers and we only use conflict free diamonds.

Step 3. Design Draft & Assessment

Once you have decided on a design we will then either hand-carve or computer modeled draft wax for you to try. We can check the fit and add the stones to give you a good idea of what it will be like when complete.

This is the time to make any changes but if you are happy with the design we will move to the next step and we may ask for a deposit depending on the jobs cost and complexity.

Step 4. Completion & Valuation (Optional)

Your item is cast in the precious metal of your choice then skillfully assembled, polished and stone set by hand.

Once completed we strongly advise that your item is professionally valued by a 3rd party. We can organise this for you as it's very important for insurance purposes.

You then come, try it, love it, pay for it and take it home. If you can not collect it we can courier it to you.

Size Guide

In our quest to make a huge collection of jewellery designs with multiple sizes, we understand that online it can be difficult to grasp the true size of the item without seeing and holding the product in the real world. In order to try and help you we have made these size comparison images for our snaffle bit bracelet and stirrup pendant ranges.

Ring Size Guide

If you need a specific size for your ring please add it to your order. If you want to know your exact size we recommend going into your local jewellers to have your finger sized. To give you a better idea of our ring, stirrup pendant and snaffle bit bracelet sizes we recommend downloading our actual size reference sheet which needs to be printed on an A4 sheet of paper at 100%.
