It's CatWalk’s 10th anniversary this year and we, The Cambridge Collection, are very happy to be part of their fundraising efforts, especially when we get to make something so special. It has been an honour and a thrill to be able to design and make this very special piece of jewellery for Catriona and CatWalk.
I was in Las Vegas in April to watch Katie Laurie compete in the world show-jumping finals and what a thrill that was when she won the Canadian Pacific Grand-Prix . Whilst we were there we could not escape the buzz and hype around a horse called Valegro and his rider Charlotte Dujardin. For me this was an opportunity to see what all the fuss was about and so I bought a ticket for the World Cup Dressage finals. I was not disappointed. They were AMAZING and for me the experience of a life-time.
When Catriona then asked if we could do ‘something’ if she managed to get some of Valegro’s tail, of course I jumped at the chance. A huge thank-you to Carl Hester & Charlotte for allowing us to have a little piece of their champion.
This has been a real team effort at Geoff Taylor Goldsmith's studio and we are all very excited about who will take the winning bid when auctioned at the Need for Speed with The CatWalk Trust fund raising dinner on the 12th of June at Skycity.
I called on family and friends to help financially and, as always, they did, which just makes it all the more special and but also gave them a chance to be part of this wonderful story.
The bracelet is 9ct yellow gold and has Valegro embossed on one side of the cylinder and CatWalk on the other. It has 64 diamonds bead set into it and most importantly it is Valegro's tail which has been lovingly plaited by Eve and finished off with a handmade slide clasp.
We make a lot of horsehair bracelets and they all have a story to tell but this one is like a fairy tale…
